Hello and welcome to all the women of Newport and surrounding areas trying to juggle supporting children, grandchildren, ageing parents, unwell partners and work responsibilities.
Over time this ongoing pressure takes its toll on you as muscle tension, restricted movement or stress. The lingering uncomfortable effects of surgery or injury scars are often pushed aside too in prioritising everyone else before you.
At Therapeutic Massage and ScarWork I provide a safe restorative space in Newport just for you- a chance to ease physical discomfort, release the weight of daily responsibilities and reconnect with your own sense of self.

About Me
My name is Sr. Marianne. I'm a Sister of St. Joseph of Annecy and have been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. Later I trained as a massage therapist and then a ScarWork practitioner.
Being a nurse gives me an understanding of the body and caring for others. My massage and ScarWork training give me skilled therapeutic hands. And being a religious sister has taught me the value of compassion, presence and listening to others.
For many years I've had a strong interest in how sensitive therapeutic touch can benefit our health and well-being. From my own experience, and from working with many family carers, I see how great a need we have for this. There is a saying- you cannot pour from an empty cup, yet so many of us are trying to do just that.
One of the greatest compliments I've ever had was when a client said "What you do helps soothe the body and the soul." That is such a beautiful way to express my intention to care for you so you can continue to care for others.
What is Therapeutic Massage?
Therapeutic Massage is much more than simply relaxation.
It offers you a space in your life to pause, a chance to breathe, and a time to reconnect with yourself in the middle of all the demands and responsibilities of caring for others.
You really can't pour from an empty cup.
I believe it is very important that we talk to each other before making your first appointment.
That conversation helps us both to see if I'm the right therapist for you. We can also consider together which forms of massage therapy might provide the best care for you.
I offer combinations of Swedish massage, soft cupping and lymphatic techniques as well as cancer care massage. Each appointment will be different depending on what you need.
My hope is that you will leave your appointment feeling rested, revived, restored and understood.
What is ScarWork?
Many people have never heard of ScarWork and think if their scar is causing problems they just need to put up with it. You don't.
Having scar massage can help with pain, discomfort, inflammation, numbness or restricted movement. ScarWork does this using gentle touch techniques across the skin and underlying fascia.
Before committing to an appointment I will talk to you to find out how you're feeling and what concerns you have about your scar, no matter how new or how old it is.

- Red, itchy, lumpy or tight
- “Stuck” or pulling on other tissue
- Thick and raised from your skin
- Painful to touch
- Numb
- Stopping you wearing clothes you like
- Difficult for you to look at or touch

Before making your first appointment I will always talk to you myself. This allows us to discuss what you need and then decide whether I am the right therapist to work with you.
If you have certain health conditions I may ask you to check with your GP or consultant prior to booking.

ScarWork: 45 mins - £50
Gentle touch techniques on and around the scar; soft cupping and lymphatic techniques may be included
There will be a charge made for any appointment cancelled or missed without 48 hours notice
