Over time this ongoing pressure can take its toll on your body as muscle tension, restricted movement or stress. The lingering uncomfortable effects of surgery or injury scars are often pushed aside too in prioritising others needs.
At Therapeutic Massage and ScarWork I provide a safe restorative space in Newport just for you- a chance to ease physical discomfort, release the weight of daily responsibilities and reconnect with your own sense of self.

What is Therapeutic Massage?
Therapeutic Massage is a complementary therapy using a range of techniques to put your care and healing first and help maximise your health.
I will always talk to you before confirming your first appointment to make sure I'm the right therapist for you. We can also consider what combinations of massage styles might provide the best care for you.

For those who have difficulty getting on or off the massage couch, seated massage is available.

What is ScarWork?
ScarWork promotes the healing, integration and movement of both old and new scars formed as a result of injury or surgery. It uses gentle touch techniques across the skin and underlying fascia.
Having scar massage can be beneficial if your scar is causing pain, discomfort, inflammation, numbness or restricting your movement. Sometimes people find it difficult to look at, or touch, their scar and together we can work on ways to help with this too.
Before committing to an appointment I will talk to you to find out how you are feeling and what concerns you have about your scar. You can also ask any questions you might have.
ScarWork is non-invasive and takes place without the use of anaesthetic, chemicals, needles or peels. Soft cupping or lymphatic drainage techniques may also be offered if appropriate.

ScarWork can help if your scar is:
- Red, itchy, lumpy or tight
- “Stuck” or pulling on other tissue
- Thick and raised from your skin
- Painful to touch

- Stopping you wearing clothes you like

About Me
My name is Sr. Marianne. I am a Sister of St. Joseph of Annecy and have been a Registered Nurse for over 25 years. In 2011 I trained as a massage therapist and later in 2021, did a specialist therapy course in Sharon Wheeler's ScarWork. I've enjoyed providing therapeutic massage and ScarWork in Newport and the surrounding areas ever since.
For many years I have had a strong interest in how sensitive therapeutic touch can benefit our health and well-being. From my own experience as well as working with health & social care staff and many unpaid family carers, I see how great a need we have for this. There is a saying- you cannot pour from an empty cup, yet so many of us are trying to do just that.
One of the greatest compliments I've ever had was when a client said "What you do helps soothe the body and the soul." That is such a beautiful way to express my intention to help you, work with you and support you to maximise your health.

Before making your first appointment I will always talk to you myself. This allows us to discuss your issues or concerns and then decide whether I am the right therapist to work with you.
If you have certain health conditions I may ask you to check with your GP or consultant prior to booking.

Gentle touch techniques on and around the scar; soft cupping and lymphatic drainage techniques may be included
There will be a charge made for any appointment cancelled or missed without 48 hours notice
